Blackjack

♠ The game of Blackjack is the most widely played casino game after slots. It has also become a very popular online game. Its popularity is largely due to the simplicity and speed of the game, which make it a fun and active card game.

Your goal when playing Blackjack is to have a hand whose cards’ values add up to as close to 21 as possible without going over (Busting). You win as long as your hand value is higher than that of the dealer. Before dealing any cards, the dealer will ask you to place a bet, then the dealer will proceed to give you two cards—one of them face down and the other one face up. The dealer receives two cards as well, of which you can see one and you can only guess the other one. Then you have the choice to ask for another card to add to your hand (Hit) or to keep the same number of cards (Stand). Once all players stand, all cards are turned face up and if you have a total card value closer to 21 than the dealer and did not bust, you win as much as you bet. If you busted (your total card value is over 21) you lose the amount of the bet. When playing in Casino33, you can play either one or two hands at the same time against the dealer.

What are the card values?

Suits do not actually affect the value of any given card, with most cards having a value equal to their face number. Jacks, Queens and Kings are all worth 10 each. Aces can have a value of 1 or 11, at the player’s choice.

What do the buttons mean?

Chips: To place a bet, you must click on the chips.

Deal: Once a bet has been placed, clicking on deal will start the game.

Hit: Each time you click the Hit button you will receive another card. If you choose to Stand (see below) you will not be able to press Hit anymore.

Stand: Keeps the cards in your hand and you will not be able to ask for more cards.

Double: This button will be available before you press Hit. You have the option of doubling your bet and receiving one additional card. After a bet is doubled, you cannot press Hit again.

Split: This button is only enabled when you are dealt two cards of the same value. If you choose to Split, you get two separate hands by placing a second bet of the same value.

Other rules

Blackjack: You achieve a blackjack when your opening hand of two cards totals 21. A blackjack will win over a 3-or-more card hand that also totals 21.

Bust: A player busts when the total value of his or her cards exceeds 21. When a player busts, the bet is lost and the dealer wins the bet.

Push: You push with the dealer when both dealer and player have the same total value, which results in the bet being return to the player (the player neither wins nor loses).

Insurance: If the dealer’s face-up card is an ace, you will have the choice to purchase insurance at the price of half your initial bet. This basically means you are betting half as much that the dealer has a blackjack. If the dealer does not, you lose the insurance bet. If the dealer does have a blackjack you are paid the insurance bet 2 to 1.
